Join investigators from America Hauntings as we explore this ancient method of divination to find hidden objects, water sources, to receive answers to questions, and much more -- even when seeking spirits or looking for unmarked graves. This workshop delves into the mysteries of how weighted pendulums and dowsing rods have been found to work throughout history and how you can use them to find your own answers by interpreting the motions of your devices.
HOW IT WORKS:
As briefly described above, the method behind using a pendulum or dowsing road is to ask questions and interpret the swinging motions of the objects for answers. It’s believed that the devices are either influenced by the subconscious, by subtle energy fields, or by paranormal forces. Essentially, they are used as tools to access information beyond conscious awareness by observing its swings in response to focused questions or target areas.
When using a pendulum, the practitioner holds the pendulum over a map, area of interest, or object while asking questions and interprets the pendulum's swing direction (back and forth, circular, etc.) as a "yes," "no," or other meaning depending on their assigned interpretation.
Dowsing rods, although most often associated with “water witching,” can be used for other activities, too, much like the pendulum. They have long been associated with both folk magic and with methods of seeing water, hidden lines, unmarked graves, divining the birth of an unborn child, and even as a tool to seek ghosts or paranormal energy.
