SEX & THE SUPERNATURAL
Sex and the supernatural have been intertwined across folklore, religion, mythology, and pop culture for centuries. Across these traditions, physical intimacy with non-human or otherworldly beings typically serves as a bridge between the mortal and the divine, the sacred and the profane, or a manifestation of hidden psychological desires. Sex has also seeped into horrific tales of devils and demons, possessions, and even stories of real-life vampires.
Many mythologies include entities that use sex or romantic allure to trap, drain, or destroy humans. Examples include sirens, succubi and incubi (demons said to lie upon sleepers to exact sexual energy or spawn hybrid offspring), and vampires.
And, of course, there are the occult and esoteric traditions that treat the sexual act as a focal point for spiritual or magical energy. Figures like Aleister Crowley viewed specialized sexual rituals (sex magick) as a sacred sacrament or a vehicle to reach higher states of consciousness and divinity.
From sexual attacks to those who claim to be married to ghosts, this night delves into the most taboo and controversial subjects in the supernatural world. If you’re easily embarrassed or easily frightened, this may not be the night for you!
But if you’re over 18 — and you’re brave enough — get signed up now while you can!
