Join author Troy Taylor at the American Oddities Museum as he kicks off the evening with a multimedia presentation on the history of spirit communication from the Victorian era to today, followed by a real-life seance in the museum and an authentic attempt to reach the spirits present in the building. Curious about the Victorian tradition of table tipping to communicate with ghosts? Find out how it worked, why it may have worked, and whether the spirits were really speaking through homemade seances.
THE ALTON SEANCE
Take part in a real-life seance (not a recreation) inside the haunted museum! We’ll be reaching out to deceased loved ones and lingering spirits and will see if they answer back during an authentic seance. A limited number of guests will be allowed to be seated at the table for the seance, but all who are present will be allowed to take part.
