Spiritualism was a nineteenth-century movement that changed history, appealing to people from every walk of life. It was founded on the belief that life existed after death and that spirits could continue to exist outside of the body. Most importantly, Spiritualists maintained that these spirits could – and did – communicate with the living. Spiritualists believed that the dead passed along messages from the other side during seances when strange occurrences happened, serving as proof of their presence.

Talking to ghosts became a cottage industry – for a while. However, interest started to wane by the early twentieth century, mostly because of fraud. Scientists and paranormal investigators began trying to expose the frauds, joined by magicians, who were more interested in self-promotion than the public good, but they loved exposing frauds.

And they loved making the tricks of fraudulent mediums part of their shows!

GHOST LITE MYSTERIES is a night of mystery, magic, and mayhem during which Carlos David and Vince Johari borrow the same tools used by fraudulent psychic mediums to re-enact how seances were held in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Discover what happens when you conjure up spirits just for fun in a haunted hotel – and what spiritual portal might open by a magician just demonstrating the methods of spirit communication?
