IT’S BACK — FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 10 YEARS!

Join author and host Troy Taylor at the American Oddities Museum in the Mineral Springs Hotel in Alton for this special Halloween event as we continue the tradition of attempting to contact the spirit of one of the great magicians and illusionists who ever lived! On Halloween night of 1926, Harry Houdini stepped through the curtain from this world to the next, promising that if it was possible to reach out from beyond the grave — he would do so! Over the years, there have been many attempts to reach Houdini in the next world — and despite several close calls — his spirit has remained elusive. Will this finally be the year? And will it happen at the American Oddities Museum, where relics from Houdini’s life are on display?

This is your chance to find out — and we’ll have VERY LIMITED SPOTS AVAILABLE, so you don’t want to miss out!

THE HOUDINI SEANCE 2024

In late October 1926, Houdini was performing in Detroit when he began running a fever and became very sick. He didn’t know it yet – but his appendix had ruptured, and the infection was spreading through his body. But Houdini – refusing to disappoint the crowds who had come to see him – performed anyway. He collapsed after the show and was rushed to the hospital – but it was too late. He died on October 31, 1926.

And almost immediately, the spirit mediums began trying to make contact with him. Houdini had always said that if it was possible to make contact from the other side, he would. So, his wife, Bess, spread the word that she was waiting for a secret message from her husband, and she was offering $10,000 to any medium who could deliver a true message from Houdini. In 1928, one spiritualist came close but, to this day, it’s unknown if the message was the real thing – or a clever fraud.

Bess held her own official Houdini Séance each year on Halloween night but as the years went by, she began to lose hope that she would ever hear from him. But what happened on Halloween night 1936 has left many wondering if perhaps Houdini made contact after all. You’ll find out what happened that night during our 2024 event!

Join us in Alton for our Halloween Houdini Seance as Troy Taylor presents a special presentation on Houdini from his days as a vaudeville performer to his obsession with the spirit world after the death of his mother. Discover strange events that filled Houdini’s life, his search for evidence of the spirit world, and a rare live recording from the 1936 Houdini seance, which was broadcast live on radio all over the world and will be an eerie precursor to the events that will follow, as the seance begins.

What follows will be an authentic attempt to contact Houdini’s spirit and if Houdini doesn’t come through, perhaps some of the spirits of the American Oddities Museum — or the Mineral Springs itself — will make themselves known instead.

Are you brave enough to join on Halloween night at the American Oddities Museum?
If so, don’t wait too long to make your reservations — it’s going to be another sold-out year!
